Miodrag Bulatović (1930—1991) je jedan od najvećih posleratnih pisaca. Rođen je u Bjelom Polju. U Beogradu je studirao psihologiju i književnost. Pokrenuo je teme o ljudima sa dna i svetu koji je demonski, mračan, morbidan.
Groteska i karnevalska smehovna, ozbiljno-smešna slika sveta određuju njegovu prozu. Ovakvim stilskih sredstvima i književnim postupkom on slika život sa svim svojim strastim a istovremeno daje socijalnu i političku kritiku. Kritičari su ga svrstavali u red pisaca poput Bokača, Servantesa, Rablea.
Najvažnija dela su mu: Crveni petao leti prema nebu, Đavoli dolaze, Heroj na magarcu, Rat je bio bolji, Vuk i zvono. Za roman “Ljudi sa četiri prsta” dobio je NIN-ovu nagradu za književnost 1975. godine.
