Maksim Gorki (1868−1936)
Maksim Gorki bio je ruski pisac, socijalistički aktivista, osnivač književnog postupka socijalistički realizam. Pre revolucije 1917, u carskoj Rusiji agitovao je protiv carizma, zalagao se za prava radnika i siromašnih ljudi, pisao i objavljivao govore, bivao zatvaran.
Nekoliko godina je bio u emigraciji, a vratio se u zemlju s uspostavljanjem novog, socijalističkog poretka. U svojim delima izražavao je realnost teškog života ljudi sa socijalnog dna pre revolucije, ukazujući na istorijsku važnost radničkog ujedinjenja i njihove borbe za svoja prava. Najpoznatija dela su mu: roman Mati, memoarska proza Detinjstvo i Mojiuniverziteti, drama Nadnu, pripovetke Makar Čudra, Starica Izergilj.
